Silvery Tweed make a quality new appointment
Cereal innovator, Silvery Tweed Cereals has appointed Susan Smith as its new Quality Manager in its Technical Department.
Susan joins the Berwick-upon-Tweed based firm where she will be responsible for all aspects of product quality, leading her team of four Quality Assurance Operatives (QA’s) as well as the six-strong Hygiene Team, and taking responsibility for driving our Good Manufacturing Practices agenda to ensure that we continue to meet the high standards that the company set.
Starting at Jus-Rol, where she gained experience in auditing, Susan has worked in the food and drink industry for her entire career. It is at Greenvale AP and Genius Gluten Free that she further developed her quality control skills, dealing with raw ingredients and testing.
Silvery Tweed Cereals is known for its innovation in its manufacture of cereal and seed ingredients, having been one of the first British companies to specialise in breakfast cereal coating, and having a state-of-the-art blending plant which was the first of its kind in the UK.
The Berwick-upon-Tweed based company also provides its customers with field-to-table grain product traceability, something that is incredibly important to today’s market when creating cereal and seed products.
Susan comments, “I am proud to have joined such a well-regarded business that has been supplying high-quality products to customers for 180 years. The role is one that I am very excited about and will give me plenty of challenges, which is something I thrive on. It also gives me the opportunity to work as part of a well-established and knowledgeable team, which is something I thrive on. I am excited about the future here at Silvery Tweed.”
Martin Drewery, Technical Manager at Silvery Tweed, said, “The role of Quality Manager is a vitally important one and requires a lot of in-depth knowledge and skills. Susan has many years working in the industry and brings considerable experience from her previous roles, which will make her a real asset to the technical team and Silvery Tweed as a whole.
