Silvery Tweed extends its support of the Berwick Food & Beer Festival
Silvery Tweed is pleased to announce it is sponsoring the 2022 Berwick Food and Beer Festival.
Held in the historic setting of Berwick-upon-Tweed barracks, the festival is a must-visit for anyone interested in quality locally produced food and drink. Now in its 15th year, the event runs from the 2nd-5th September and features kitchen demonstrations, regional producers, childrens’ activities and a marquee filled with beer from local breweries.
Based in the town Silvery Tweed Cereals has always played an active role in the local community and is proud to support the Berwick Food and Drink Festival.
Silvery Tweed Cereals Managing Director, Robert Gladstone, says, “The Berwick Food and Beer Festival is always a highlight in the calendar. It goes from strength to strength and we are proud to play an active part in the event.
“We work nationally with some of the country’s top food brands but what many local people may not know is that we source the vast majority of our grains from farms and merchants within a 40-mile radius of Berwick.”
After a fallow year in 2020 due to the pandemic, the festival returned in 2021, albeit on a smaller scale. This year sees it back to its full capacity and with a focus on sustainability. Festival Director, Millie Stanford, comments, “It’s fantastic to have one of the town's largest food businesses once again sponsoring the food festival. Without companies such as Silvery Tweed, it wouldn’t be possible to run the event on the scale that we do, which would be a massive shame for the area.
“This year we are focusing on sustainability and asking stallholders not to use plastic or polystyrene. This all ties in with the relaunch of the Plastic Free Berwick campaign, which aims to make the town plastic-free.”
