Quality & Traceability

Product quality

We’re committed to ensuring quality and transparency at all stages of the supply and manufacture process. The grains we buy are all from fully accredited growers who can demonstrate a quality regime from purchasing through to cultivation, harvest and storage.

We take care to source grains which we know will create a quality product and give the result a customer requires. These grains are typically well-established breeds that are grown in the UK for the human food sector.

With our stringent quality assurance regime, Silvery Tweed Cereals provides customers with field-to-table grain product traceability: a key principle in the modern cereals market.

Product sourcing

Provenance is everything to us. To source our grain, we work hard to establish strong, lasting partnerships with merchants whom we can trust to always deliver quality and value.

We’re champions of the ‘field to fork’ ethos, and we’re in a great position to pass its benefits on to our customers. Based in Berwick-upon-Tweed, we’re located in one of the best barley-growing areas in the British Isles, which means that most of the raw grain we process comes from within a 40-mile radius of our factory.

Product certification

As you would expect from an organisation that puts quality assurance at the core of everything it does, we’re very proud of our product certifications, and our management team is committed to ensuring that we maintain these high standards throughout our day-to-day operations.

In addition to BRC Grade ‘A’ certification, we’re Soil Association certified for organic production. We are also holders of the Red Tractor certification for assured food standards.

You can download copies of relevant certificates below, or speak to a member of our team to discuss any specific requirements you may have.
